April Favourites

April has come and gone in a flash and its been such a good month for me not only because I celebrated my 20th birthday but this month I tried a few products that I would like to share with you all.

I would love to know what products you have loved using this month. Leave me a comment below!

NYX Lingerie Lipstick

So this month I got my very first NYX product, which I was excited about. For my 20th birthday my best friend got me the NYX Matte Lingerie lipstick in ‘Bedtime Flirt’. It truly was love at first sight. I heard a few mixed reviews about this product and I have to agree with the positive ones.

Now I did review this lipstick so I’m not going to talk about it so much! You can read my review where I go into a lot more detail about this product. Here is the link: NYX Lingerie Review.

Dry Shampoo

My next favourite product of the month is Dry Shampoo. I didn’t realise how much of a life saver this product was until this month. I know what you’re probably thinking ‘how could only realise this now?’. Well, recently this month I got my cut short and before I did, all I did with my hair was have it in a bun. But since getting it cut, it has been down every day and honestly I haven’t got the time to wash it everyday so this is where this product comes in handy.

Dry Shampoo automatically takes the greasy look away from your hair and replaces it with a fresh look. It’s the perfect quick fix for great looking hair.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

I finally found a concealer I can call my own. I really like this concealer, because it works for both under my eyes and any blemishes or spots I have. The formula is creamy, and hydrating, without being greasy. Personally I find the coverage is more on the medium versus full, but if I gently pat it over blemishes, it covers them just fine.

I also did a review on this concealer so if you want to find out more about this product here is the link: Rimmel Concealer Review.

Coco Brown Tan

I’m from Ireland so to say I am white as a ghost is an understatement. I use Coco Brown Tan when I am going out or any special occasion when it involves wearing a skirt or a dress. I don’t want to scare people with my pasty complexion so the night before I always apply this tan. IMG_8640

The best thing about this tan is that when you are applying it to your skin, you can see it so you can’t possibly mess it up or end up with patches. It only takes 1 hour to dry and depending on how dark you want, you can use the light or dark product.

Lavera Eyeshadow

Since I’ve only recently got inserted in makeup I was on the hunt for the right natural eyeshadow that I got use for everyday. A new health shop opened in my town, Height Of Health and they sell all natural organic makeup products. I bought one eyeshadow to try and I can honestly tell you I will be buying a lot more. The product has great pigment, goes on easily and does last well.

This a mineral eyeshadow from Lavera. Lavera uses herbal ingredients, certified organic whenever possible. They have over 300 products, all formulated without synthetic preservatives, colours or fragrances, developed to be effective yet gentle for sensitive skin, and safe for you.

What lavera mineral eyeshadow does have:
  • An all-natural, talc-free formula that glides on easily and has staying power
  • Made with vegetable glycerin to help soften and soothe the skin.
  • Seaweed powder is added to provide antioxidant protection while soothing and calming the skin.
  • Shimmer effect is from mica and all pigments are from natural minerals.

So thats all the products I used and loved this month! I hope you enjoyed reading this post and maybe you might invest in one of these products if you haven’t already. If you do use these products let me know what you think of them!

7 Things About Meganhes

1.My blog name is Meganhes and yes my real name is Megan but the ‘hes’ part is not part of my own name. I just like the way it looks. If you can figure it, let me know.

2. I only set this blog up because of a college project and I didn’t expect to like it so much but I’ve grown to it and I am definitely going to be keeping it.

3. I’m a big fitness freak. I go to the gym at least 5 times a week and it’s a total stress reliever for me. If I’m going through really stressful time, I will go to the gym and take my stress out on a punching bag.

4. Chocolate is my biggest weakness and although I love to stay fit and want to look after my figure, I still binge eat on chocolate. But who doesn’t?

5. I am a big book nerd and I get that from my dad. My favourite books have to be Harry Potter as they are just an all time classic and I’ve read them five times now.

6. I am the most fussiest eater you will ever meet. I basically only eat chicken, I don’t know why since my mum is such a healthy eater.

7. When I’m bored I love listen to music from the 80’s and 90’s and I just imagine how different it was back then and I do often think I was born in the wrong era. I sometimes belt out the lyrics and put on a concert in my bedroom.

That’s seven things about me! It’s actually hard to list things about yourself, but I tried to think of things that were interesting.

Rimmel Concealer Review

Every girl knows the struggle of finding the perfect concealer to match their skin tone and if I am being honest, it took me a while to find this beauty show stopper. My skin breaks out just like everyone else and it’s totally normal. But that doesn’t stop me from feeling self conscious about my spots.

I really like this concealer, because it works for both under my eyes and any blemishes or spots I have. The formula is creamy, and hydrating, without being greasy. Personally I find the coverage is more on the medium versus full, but if I gently pat it over blemishes, it covers them just fine.

This concealer is great for minor under-eye circles, because it’s not heavy and cakey. If you have major under-eye circles, I wouldn’t recommend this product for you as it does seem to brighten the circles a bit. The shade “Ivory” is a perfect colour match for my pale skin tone. So if you have a darker skin tone, I would recommend the “Soft Beige”.

Rimmel is known for their anti-fatigue products and I stand by them on this. I also use their “Wake me up” foundation and its perfect for your tired looking skin. This concealer has an instant anti-fatigue effect which I like. It definitely “wakes you up” because when I apply it under my eyes and on my eyelids it makes me look more awake and alert.

I highly recommend this concealer for anyone with small blemishes and minor under-eye circles. Rimmel has stepped up their makeup game and I wouldn’t cross them off your list just yet.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Makeup Advice

Makeup is the centre of the universe at the moment, from Instagram posts to the catwalk. It’s everywhere you look and if you’re like me and are only new to this then you will understand how scary it actually looks. Cosmetics ranging from your typical foundation, concealer and blush to your not so average makeup products such as highlighter (I still haven’t tried it yet) and eyebrow gel (what’s wrong with the pencil?).

I love looking at photos on Instagram, especially since I’m still learning so much and still have a lot more to discover. The different posts give me loads of inspiration and ideas.

As I mentioned in my last makeup post, my cousin is the guru for all things makeup and she guides me to the right products and explains why I should be using them instead of other brands.

I did an interview with my cousin getting her to explain what products she uses and why. She also goes into a little more detail about the products she used in our makeup tutorial. She talks about the brand she uses and the colours. The link is below.

Fashion Advice

Everyone has their own type of fashion they like, no style is right or wrong. If you like it, wear it and be proud. Fashion is a way to express yourself and you can do so freely. There is so many different styles out there these days, and you don’t have to stick to just one. As I’ve grown up, I noticed my wardrobe has changed drastically and that just proves fashion grows up with you.

I love putting my own outfits together and even out shopping I picture what would be good together. I sometimes get the urge to change the displays in the windows (obviously can’t do that). Fashion and styling is just something I am good at and I take pride in that.

I spoke to a fashion adviser and she has giving me some advice on all things fashion and how to put an outfit together. I would like to share this advice with you guys and hopefully it will be of benefit to you. The link is below.

Happy styling and let your inner fashionista be seen!

Makeup Tutorial

I’ve said before in my last makeup posts that I am a newbie to the makeup world and I was only just now discovering what you guys already knew. The amount of makeup tutorial’s I have watched is uncountable, they are such an easy way to learn something so quick.

Makeup has become a big thing worldwide in recent years so even if you wanted to ignore it you simply couldn’t. My makeup posts have been reviews about the products I have recently used and loved. My makeup guru cousin is my guide to all the essentials, she studied makeup in college and is a qualified makeup artist.

I know there are some girls like me and haven’t got the best knowledge on makeup so I decided to make a makeup tutorial with my cousin, using my mum as the model. The link for the video is below.

Fashion Show

I haven’t done as much posts about fashion as I would like so from now on that is going to change. Starting from this post. I have an eye for all things fashion and I am always up to date with the latest trends. I have always wanted to do a fashion show of some sorts and for a college project, this is exactly what our tutor asked us to do so I was very excited to say the least.

One of my younger cousins loves fashion as much as I do, he gets it from me obviously. He wanted to take part in my fashion show so I decided to use him as my model. He is modelling four different outfits: Comfy, causal, dressy and sporty. Now be aware the video is very bad quality but there is nothing I could do about it. The link is below.

Spring OOTD

Hi guys! So I haven’t done many fashion posts and I really want to change that, just bare with me. I decided to do this post since the weather is starting to get nice here in Ireland and we can finally put away our big winter coats. I thought I would share with you a few of my simple and easy to wear Spring Outfits.

Featured in the photo:
  • Blue denim high-waisted super skinny jeans from Topshop
  • Blue off the shoulder top from H&M
  • Grey Nike runners

Additionally to go with this outfit I would wear a choker as the top is low down, a long grey coat or any coat at all will go with this outfit. In terms of accessories I would just add a handbag of your choice.

Featured in the photo:
  • Blue denim skirt from Primark
  • Grey long sleeved top from New Look
  • Black tights from Primark
  • Black Nike runners

The good old skirt and tights combo is something you can’t go wrong with. Additionally to go with this outfit I would wear a light enough jacket and make sure its short so you don’t take the look off the skirt. I usually don’t wear any accessories with this outfit only a choker and a handbag.

Featured in the photo:
  • Blue denim jeans from Topshop
  • Green long sleeved top from Dunnes
  • Grey Nike runners

Additionally to go with this outfit I would usually wear a black leather jacket and a black choker. It’s just a plain top with jeans combo and it’s nice and simple. I always take a handbag with me so any one of your choice would be nice.

These outfits are just plain and simple and easy to wear. Its Spring now so get out there and show off your outfits. Thank you for reading and I hoped you enjoyed this post. Any questions, don’t be sacred to leave a comment.

March Favourites

Recently I’ve seen these sort of posts and I thought they were pretty cool and interesting so I’m going to start doing them myself. I’m a bit late as March has come and gone but still enjoy this post.

March has been a really productive month for me and I have tried out lots of new products that I have simply loved.

Gatineau Skincare

Gatineau, Face Basics (Comforting Lily Cleanser) – It’s only recently that I have discovered this brand, thanks to my mum. But my god I have been missing out. This product is a cleanser and I use it every night on my face. I like to use it after I remove my makeup to take away any remaining product. My skin feels soft to the touch after using it. I absolutely love it.The cleanser is rich and creamy yet lightweight, non greasy and ensures a fresh and efficient cleanse. Helps to rebalance the pH levels of the skin after a day of makeup.

Ultimate Blends Haircare

The Sleek Restorer – I’ve put my hair through some damage lately and I wanted to give it some TLC that it deserves. This shampoo is made with coconut oil and coco butter. My hair has never felt so soft and looked so shiny before. It just feels so much better after I used this. It leaves your hair smooth and it smells divine.

Primark Accessories

Hair Clips – These are pretty basic but for some reason I always lose every single one of my hair clips. They just disappear. Primark always have these clips and they are only €2 for a handful.

Chokers – I have a bunch of these but never enough. Primark once in a while restock their shelves with the good stuff. I seen this 3 pack of chokers and I couldn’t pass them so I just threw them in my basket along with my other pointless items. The price for them was €4.

NYX Lingerie Review

Yesterday I celebrated my 20th Birthday and one of my best gifts is my NYX Lipstick. I have been dying to try one of these bad boys as I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about them. I thought why not try it myself and come up with my own verdict which I have.

I picked the colour ‘Bedtime Flirt’ and I was so excited. Of course I applied it straight away yesterday. I find the pigmentation good and the lasting power is very good in my opinion. It felt a bit dry by the middle of the day but nothing a bit lip balm can’t fix.

While other brands felt thick, sticky, and heavy, this one felt lightweight, natural, and comfortable. You might have to reapply after eating greasy food, but most lipsticks acquire this step. Be realistic.

The trick for this lipstick is in the application. I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t just dab it on your lips and expect it to look good because it simply won’t. What I do is apply it to the centre of my lips and then smack them together, then I carefully line into the corners, then fill in the rest. Don’t smack again, let it dry. I get a perfect coat every time with any lipsticks I use. It wasn’t any different with NYX.

I’d advice moisturising your lips before applying a liquid lipstick. The consistency of this lipstick is wonderful. Apart from being just a tiny bit dry, it’s absolutely magnificent. The colour itself is good. The shade is a bit of a rusty peach shade which can differ on different skin tones.

The shade is ‘everyday’. And by that I mean, it’s a shade you can rock on an everyday basis. It’s not too flashy but doesn’t look invisible as well, which nude’s lipsticks have a tendency of doing.

I am in love with this lipstick and I will be buying other shades. Overall I would recommend this product.
